Following the worldwide iPhone release of Espgaluda II, Cave’s Makoto Asada announced that the company is planning to release the 1999 shmup Guwange on Xbox Live Arcade worldwide. In a separate post, Asada showed some work-in-progress screens.

“The release date and price are not yet decided,” Asada said, but the game will receive an English localization for the XBLA version. In the meantime, if you crave Cave, Deathsmiles is in American stores now, published (and put into a really big box) by Aksys.

[Thanks, dirtybeefz!]

Master Chief…all Victorian like.

Over the course of two months, artist Christophe worked on this steampunk version of the helmet worn by the Halo Spartan. After a series of misses, Christophe was able to use four layers of acrylic paint and PCV pipe to create the effect.

Oh, forgot one last material used — the awesome! I hate when I forget that. Hate it.

Oh, ilomilo. Even though we still have absolutely no idea what’s going on gameplay-wise, after watching this new trailer, we can’t help but fall prey to this game’s immeasurable charm. It looks like you have to move boxes around to reunite the game’s pair of roly-poly protagonists, but we’re sure there’s more to it than that. Just like we’re sure that this trailer is cuter than a bucket of baby sea otters being cuddled by a baby panda bear, which is also being cuddled by a much larger panda bear.

The trailer also includes a look at the “ilomilo shuffle” minigame, which, despite its lo-fi visuals, still manages to be irresponsibly adorable. We’ll keep an eye on Swedish developer Southend’s blog for release details for this pretty, pretty puzzler.

Crossfire is the second in a series of Xbox Live Indie Games arena shooters from Radiangames – the first being JoyJoy which was released recently and became a top 6 finalist in the Dream.Build.Play competition.

The trick behind Crossfire is the ability to warp from the top of the screen to the bottom, and vice versa, making for some extremely hectic blasting. Just watching the above trailer makes me think there is no way my brain will be able to deal with that many lazers, no matter how simple the idea is. But, you know, in a totally ‘I keep dying but this is still awesome’ sort of way.

Coming later this month to XBLIG.

Game Informer continues to melt my face off with its Gears of War 3 coverage, now having posted a massive gallery of screenshots and concept art from Epic’s upcoming third-person shooter. Unsurprisingly, it looks incredible… but if it’s so unsurprising, what’s up with me having to pick my jaw up off of the floor?

The shots show off a bunch of new in-game stuff, including what appears to be a standing kick melee attack, mounted guns, and images of newcomers Anya Stroud and Jace Stratton in action. Game Informer‘s most recent issue features the Xbox 360 game on its cover, and all throughout May and right into June it’s been dropping a ton of info on the title. In case these 50+ images aren’t doing it for you, check out its Gears of War 3 page.

I hope to get my hands on the game at E3, presumably before Soulja Boy does.

I’m guessing that the video was made to convince voters to pick their game for a GTTV feature, so we will see if their ploy really worked when the episode airs this May 28th.

You know, it’s kind of depressingly easy to win nerds over. Take, for instance, the debut trailer for Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions just after the break. With just a few moving images of “noir” Spider-Man in action, our mild curiosity about the game from the company that most recently ported Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen to Windows transformed to rubbing $60 on our computer monitors, hoping to coax the game into reality. We really are that easy. Come, drool with us on this Gamespot preview of the game (scripted by She-Hulk/Amazing Spider-Man author Dan Slott).

But wait, there are still two more “dimensions” to be shown, other than “Noir” and the classic setting of “Amazing.” We look forward to finding just how much more we can pine for a game from the guys who made Bee Movie: The Game.

Also, is that first-person swinging? WHAT?
