Being 1982, we’ve got a stellar lineup, including comedian Mel Brooks, Superman’s Christopher Reeve, and another comedian, Chevy Chase. And remember, this is 1982, so all are at the height of their powers.

Reeve and Chase are quite mean. Though, being 1982, that’s understandable. Brooks, on the other hand, issues a line that should be inscribed on the gates to video game land.

So if this sweater makes him the world’s biggest geek, it also makes her the world’s most awesome wife.

Reasoning that “knitting stitches are basically pixels, right?” The Happy Seamstress converted World 1-1 into a “ginormous knitting chart made up of over 10 sheets of tabloid paper taped together.” From that she made the sweater, which has to be the Conversation Piece of the Apocalypse.

She even specially dyed yarn to make the pipe and bush the appropriate color. The pattern is not yet posted; she promises that’s on the way soon. Meantime, she’s published her list of supplies. I foresee a run on “KnitPicks Palette in Pool” at your local Michael’s.

So, if you’ve been wondering why all the internet emergency lights were flashing this morning to notify you that EA and DICE’s free-to-play, microtransaction supported debut Battlefield Heroes had stealthily just gone live, and yet you still couldn’t find anything but a broken beta sign-up page, it’s because the battlefield-heroes.com and battlefieldheroes.com are apparently entirely disconnected.

So, yes, BattlefieldHeroesMinusTheDash is actually live, though not even the game’s twitter feed seems to be aware of it, and there is probably no better way you could spend the rest of your day than exploring its light-hearted (as above), entirely accessible brand of arcade shooting, as we finally return to the fields and see how it’s shaped up since early beta days.
